The Old Testament prophets weren’t fortune tellers. Prophets seem more concerned about saying what God thought about their present day than what was in store in the future. I’d be uncomfortable turning my back on somebody who claimed to know the secrets which God had told him and him alone. Truth be told, I’ve even met a few folks like this over the years and the results aren’t always pretty. But I will confess that there’s so much about the world around me which is a mystery that I keep half an ear open just in case.
